Eleni Papadamou graduated from the School of Philology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (degree classification: excellent) and then went on to pursue her postgraduate studies in the field of historical and Balkan linguistics in the Department of Linguistics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), where she also wrote her doctoral thesis in the field of dialectology and Balkan linguistics. She worked at the Institute of Modern Greek Studies (Manolis Triandaphyllidis Foundation) as a temporary scientific associate (2005-2007) and as a scientific associate (seconded educator) (2009-2010), (2011-2013) and (2015-2022) in research programmes focusing on modern Greek dialects and areal typology with emphasis on the Balkan area. She taught as an academic scholar and 407/80 teaching staff in the School of Philology at AUTH (2019-2021), and has since 2022 been teaching at the Department of Linguistics at AUTH as a member of its Laboratory and Teaching Staff.

Her research interests include the history of the Greek language, medieval and modern Greek dialects, language contact, as well as issues of areal typology (with emphasis on the Balkan area) and diachronic sociolinguistics.

She has participated in international conferences and has published papers in international journals and international conference proceedings (Ζeitschrift für Balkanologie, MGDLT, ICLG, ΑMGL, etc.).
