Kyriazis Doris (Theodoros)
Doris Kyriazis studied philology, specialising in linguistics, at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, graduating in 1986. He has worked as an academic associate of the Institute of Linguistics of the Albanian Academy of Science (1987-1991) and as an assistant and compiler on the Dictionary of Mediaeval Greek Popular Literature by Professor E. Kriaras (1992-1996, 1997-1998). He then taught in the Department of Balkan Studies in the University of Western Macedonia (Florina, 2000-2006). Since September 2006 he has been a member of the teaching-staff of Department of Linguistics, School of Philology, Faculty of Philosophy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
His research interests lie in the area of the reciprocal relations between Greek and other Balkan languages, with the emphasis on their historical evolution and broader cultural context. Other research interests include language contact, bilingualism and issues of linguistic integration of immigrants. He is member of Balkan Committee of International Association for Slavic Studies and of Editorial Committee of Atlas Linguarum Europae.
