Lianeri Alexandra
Alexandra Lianeri is assistant professor of classics and has worked as Moses Finley Fellow at Darwin College, Cambridge, and as Junior Research Fellow at the Institute of Hellenic and Roman Studies at the University of Bristol. Her work engages with classical reception and the cultural history of antiquity with a focus on theoretical issues, the relationship between translation and classical reception studies, as well as antiquity’s trajectories in modern European thought with an emphasis on political reflection and historiography. Her publications include articles as well as the volumes Companion to the Translation of Classical Epic (with R. Armstrong, Blackwell, 2024), Knowing Future Time in and through Greek Historiography (De Gruyter 2016); The Western Time of Ancient History (Cambridge University Press 2011); Translation and the Classic (with V. Zajko, Oxford University Press, 2008) as well as volumes Classical Translation Studies (with R. Armstrong, forthcoming, Oxford University Press), και Translating Dēmokratia, Temporalizing Democracy in 19th-Century Britain (Oxford University Press, forthcoming). Her research highlights spatiotemporal rifts and connections, as well as cultural and ideological parameters of the cultural and intellectual trajectories of the classical past in the modern and contemporary present.
