Revithiadou Anthi
Anthi Revithiadou, currently Professor of Linguistics (Phonology) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, received her Ph.D. from Leiden University/HIL in 1999 (Ph.D. thesis: Headmost Accent Wins). Her research interests focus on phonological theory (metrical and prosodic phonology), the morphosyntax-phonology interface, language typology and language contact. She has also a profound interest in contact-induced systems and, especially, endangered varieties of Greek that have been in long-term contact with Turkish (e.g., Asia Minor Greek, Ofitika Pontic, Rhodian Muslim Greek, etc.). She has conducted three fieldwork trips in Nea Trapezounta on Ofitika Pontic (2003, 2006, 2009) and three fieldwork trips in Symi on Symi Greek (2002, 2006, 2007). She has participated as a Researcher or a Scientific Coordinator in several projects focusing on Greek dialects, the Greek-Turkish language contact, etc. In 2009 she received the Studies 2009/ Μελέτες 2009 research grant (Project: Ofitika Pontic: A Documentation Project with Special Emphasis on the Diachrony and Synchrony of the Dialect, Funding ID 2128) by the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation. In 2008 she was awarded the Fulbright Research Grant (Fulbright Foundation, Athens) in order to carry our research on Ancient Greek stress at MIT (USA). In 2023 she has received a grant from the H.F.R.I (Greece 2.0 National Recovery and Resilience Plan, ID16618 – Subproject 1, Basic Research Financing) for the project “GRADIENCE: Modeling the limits of grammar: Integrating lexical frequency in a Gradient Harmonic model of lexical stress; Evidence from young and adult Greek speakers’ grammars”. She is a reviewer for international journals (e.g. Lingua, Phonology, The Linguistic Review, NLLT, Journal of Greek Linguistics (Member of the Editorial Board since 2009)). Prof. Revithiadou has published 5 books and has edited 8 volumes. She has also published over 100 articles in scientific journals, peer-reviewed volumes and proceedings. She has presented her work in more than 100 international conferences, workshops and colloquia. She was invited to present her work and give lectures at Universities in Europe and the USA.
