Stephanie Roussou studied Classics at the universities of Cyprus (BA 2007) and Oxford (MSt 2008, DPhil 2012). Her Bachelor’s degree was awarded with grade ‘Excellent’ (9.56/10) and she was the Class Valedictorian of the Department of Classics and the Faculty of Letters of the University of Cyprus. For her Master’s and doctoral studies she was awarded scholarships from the A.G. Leventis Foundation (2007-2008) and the Sloane Robinson Foundation (2007–2010). She has been a Humboldt Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Cologne (2015–2016) and a Margo Tytus Fellow at the University of Cincinnati, USA (2018), and she has worked at Thesaurus Linguae Graecae research programme at the University of California at Irvine (2012–2014) and the universities of Oxford (2017) and Cyprus (2018–2020). She has received funding from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation in the context of the second call for research projects to support Post-doctoral Researchers (2021). Since 2021 she is Assistant Professor of Ancient Greek Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Her research interests lie in the areas of ancient and Byzantine scholarship, grammar, and lexicography, ancient and Byzantine scholars and scholiasts, the reception of ancient scholarship and grammar in Byzantium, textual criticism, papyrology, and history of classical scholarship. She has written the following books:

(1) PseudoArcadiusEpitome of Herodians De prosodia catholica (Oxford University Press 2018, https://global.oup.com/academic/product/pseudo-arcadius-epitome-of-herodians-de-prosodia-catholica-9780198805588?cc=gr&lang=en&), which received an award from the Academy of Athens for the best monograph or critical edition of a work of classical literature (2020) and the First Book Award from the Classical Association of the Middle West and South in the USA (2020).
