Lambros Varelas was born in 1968 in Vathirema, Trikala (Thessaly, Greece). He got his BA degree in Modern Greek Literature, Aristotle University, Thessaloniki. He also got his MA and igPhD on literary and intellectual movements in the Greek province during the interwar period at the same University. He has taught at private Secondary Schools; in 2001 he was appointed a researcher on Modern Greek and European Literature at the Centre for the Greek Language (Thessaloniki). He has also been working as a tutor of Modern Greek Literature at the Hellenic Open University since 2002. Since 2010 he has been teaching at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (School of Philology). His research interests include 19th and 20th century Modern Greek literature, literary texts in education and literary magazines. He is the author or the editor of fourteen books. A big number of research papers of his have been published both in various reviews and in books of proceedings of conferences.
